Mid-Century Modern Dark Sunroom Decoration Ideas

I've been thinking a lot lately about how life is an ongoing continuation of many things - that very few things get to have a complete "checked off the list." That often it's hard to feel at rest because we want to do one more thing. Do one more work out. Get one more lamp. Look into XYZ.

A messy green sunroom with a rug and furniture pushed up agsint the walls.
First round paint was a green I hated the second we started putting it on.

As a lover of lists and crossing things off of them, this has been something that feels silly - but I'm coming to terms with. Becoming a mom has definitely made me less "type A" (survival, ammiright?). In that spirit, I was thinking about our sunroom and all the progress that has been made to make it a room we love. It's been the slowest process in our house to update our sunroom, and to update our sunroom in a way that feels like the right use of space.

When we purchased our house, it needed a lot of love and updating. Our sunroom was at the top of the "needs a lot of love" list, but low on the practical list of things we needed to do.

First photo: Sunroom when we toured it. It was very dark, smelled bad (likely from the layers and layers of carpet) and needed some love. Second photo: When it was in the first stage of "done." Our nicely tiled floor, fresh trim and paint and hand-me-down furniture from my parents. Third photo: This stage of done-enough. Deep paint, new furniture, upgraded electrical plating and bistro lights. Projects we have done in the sunroom: 1) Ripped out all the floor (there were roughly 8 layers of carpet on top of each other) 2) Painted the ceilings 3) Changed the fan 4) Installed tile 5) Painted the trim 6) Painted the walls 7) Re-painted the walls 8) Added bistro lights 9) Changed the outlet plating 10) Sold our furniture and added new 11) Hung some artwork

Projects I'd still like to do: 1) Get a chair 2) Figure something out with our beam 3) Add some storage 4) Add some hooks near the door 5) Replace the door 6) Replace the windows (and maybe siding so it can be all seasons) 7) Get a new lamp Despite the fact we have done so much, I still find myself wanting to do more. Wanting to change more. This is my reminder to myself that things don't have to be perfect for us to enjoy them.

Also, this is my other reminder to listen to what you want to do vs other people - this is the color I wanted from the beginning and it just feels right in our space.

This color completes our space. It's warm, cozy and inviting.
